- Normally closed on Mondays, which is the single most common wasted walk here, plus 1 January and 25 December. The museum does run extra Monday afternoon openings in some seasons, announced on its own site, so check before writing a Monday off. Last entry is an hour before closing, tickets are timed and sold online, and entry is free on the first Sunday of the month, with queues to match. None of this could be reconfirmed against the museum's own pages for this edition, because the ministry site was unreachable, so treat the times as indicative and read the official listing before you set out rather than arriving on trust. The bridge and the riverside outside the walls are free at any hour.
