- The ruin stands in the open street, free, unfenced and floodlit at night, with nothing to book. Two minutes east, the Great Synagogue and the Jewish Museum share one ticket: €12 for adults, €5 for students, free for under-10s and for visitors with disabilities, including an audio guide and a guided visit to the synagogue, which cannot be entered any other way. The rule that catches people out is the calendar. Both close every Saturday for Shabbat and on Jewish holidays, whose dates move each year, and both close early on Fridays, at 16:00 in summer and 14:00 in winter. Sunday to Thursday they open 10:00 to 18:00 in summer and shorter hours in winter.
